Application

Peel foil off the refill pod, locking the pod into your Skin Shield Crème jar. After cleansing and applying serums, crèmes and oils, apply Skin Shield liberally, massaging into your face and neck. Use daily in the morning and please follow the advice from leading testing agency, Dermatest Australia, on how to effectively apply sunscreen below.+

• Apply liberally – Apply sunscreen liberally to all sun-exposed areas so that it forms a film when initially applied. Most people do not use enough – to cover all sun-exposed areas on the average adult it takes at least six teaspoons. Although zinc sunscreen can have a white film at first, do persist with rubbing it in.
• Apply 30 minutes before sun exposure – Apply at least half an hour before going in the sun as it takes 20–30 minutes for sunscreen to be absorbed by the skin and it can easily be rubbed off.
• Reapply after 30 minutes – Reapply after half an hour so that the ‘mountains’, as well as the ‘valleys’ are protected (imagine you are painting a wall – two coats of paint provide a more even coverage than one).
• Reapply every 2 hours – Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours if staying out in the sun for more than an hour during the day.
• Reapply after swimming – Reapply immediately after swimming, excessive sweating, or if rubbed off by clothing or towelling, even if the product claims to be “water resistant”.
• Use higher SPF if pairing with insect repellant – Insect repellents reduce the sunscreen’s SPF so when using together, use a sunscreen with a high and re-apply more often.
